TDP Features

DESIGN METHODS

Techgrid Designer Pro is equipped to design reinforced soil walls using three of the most widely used methodologies:

BS 8006-1:2010

Analysis has been done in accordance to BS 8006-1:2010 standard, for static condition. There are various cases, to define worst condition for rupture, pullout and serviceability checks. Seismic conditions are checked as per FHWA guidelines.

AASHTO LRFD

Analysis has been done in accordance with FHWA guidelines (AASHTO), for static and seismic conditions. All the necessary checks are carried out to satisfy the minimum factor of safety, as per AASHTO standard.

NCMA

Analysis has been done in accordance with FHWA guidelines (AASHTO), for static and seismic conditions. All the necessary checks are carried out to satisfy the minimum factor of safety, as per AASHTO standard.

ANALYSIS

Static

Static analysis for Reinforced Soil Wall is carried out as per BS 8006-1:2010, AASHTO LRFD and NCMA Guidelines. Static analysis includes both External stability and Internal stability checks.

Seismic

Seismic analysis for Reinforced Soil Wall is carried out as per AASHTO LRFD (FHWA Guidelines) and NCMA standard. Seismic analysis includes both External stability and Internal stability checks.

Internal Compound stability

TDP also analyzed internal compound stability for the design methods. For overall stability checks, file can be exported to ReSSA software.

FACINGS

Discrete Concrete Panel

Discrete panels of size 1.8m(Width) x 1.6m(Height)x 0.18m(Thickness) is considered as facing for Reinforced Soil Wall. Tie hooks and connector rods are embedded in concrete, while casting, to facilitate the Techgrid connection. Different size of panels are arranged in the longitudinal profile automatically, and profile can be exported to Cad software.

Segmental Concrete Block

Segmental Concrete Block of size 450mm (W) x 300mm (Depth) x 200mm (Thickness) is considered as facings with shear key. Blocks are with inbuilt batter, no need for worry about vertical alignment. Techgrid are placed in between the Blocks, as per design, with frictional connection.

Gabions

Gabions with 3M x 2M x 1M is considered as facing, with 2 meter tail end, embedded in soil to hold the Gabion box. Geogrids are placed as per design from bottom to top. For higher heights, smaller height of Gabion box are used for Reinforced Soil Wall.

Wrap around Welded Wire Cag

Welded wire mesh is the facing for Wrap around with Welded wire cages. Detail drawing is available for the diameter and spacing for welded mesh. Techgrid is wrap around from back side, as per designed cross-section.

Wrap around with soil-filled bags

Soil filled bags (Sand filled) is considered as facing, which are covered (Wrapped around) with Techgrid for stability. For UV protection, it has been suggested to have vegetative facings above Soil filled bags, for erosion prevention. Techgrids are laid as per the designed cross-section

TechGrid Designer Pro has the facility to export the design files to select programs (GSlope and ReSSA) for global stability analysis. The available design methods, facing types and design methods are summarized in table below :

Which type of soil reinforcement can be used with TDP?

Techgrid Designer Pro has been developed exclusively for the design of reinforced soil walls using Techgrid Geogrids as the soil reinforcement. These are world class Knitted and Polymeric Coated Polyester Geogrids manufactured by Techfab India Industries and having CE and BBA certification. The design parameters of Techgrid geogrids with tensile strength ranging from 40 kN/m to 300 kN/m are built into the programme.
