Hydraulic engineering solutions protect shorelines, riverbanks, channels, and hydraulic structures from erosion caused by wave action, scour, tidal forces, and high-velocity flows. They are needed wherever water threatens the stability of infrastructure or land — coastal revetments, river training works, irrigation channel lining, flood embankments, and land reclamation sites.

TechFab offers three primary systems: TechTube® Geotextile Tube Systems for shoreline protection and land reclamation, TechMat® Concrete Grout Mattress for channels and riverbanks, and TechRock™ Bio-Engineered Composite Geotextile for nature-integrated coastal protection. The three systems can be used independently or in combination.

TechFab systems are flexible and ground-conforming, require no batching, formwork, or curing downtime (programme savings of 40–60%), have a lower carbon footprint, and TechRock™ offers bio-engineering potential that integrates naturally with the environment over time.

A high-strength woven geotextile tube is placed in position and hydraulically filled with a slurry of locally available sand, dredge spoil, or in-situ soil. As fill pumps in, water drains through the permeable fabric, leaving a dense, stable fill body that resists wave forces and tidal displacement — with no quarried rock required.

Filter Point Mattress relieves pore pressure on slopes and berms; Uniform Section Mattress is fully sealed for canal lining requiring impermeability; Articulated Block Mattress offers maximum mass for bridge abutment aprons and scour-prone zones. Projects often combine all three.

TechRock™’s sand-entrapped surface layer traps additional sediment carried by currents and waves. As sediment accumulates, biofilms form and vegetation colonises the surface, creating a growing natural protective layer. Carbon footprint is approximately 50% lower than conventional rock armour, with 3x the service life of standard uncovered geosynthetics.

Programme savings of 40–60% are typically achievable — TechMat® eliminates formwork and curing time, TechTube® eliminates the rock supply chain from quarry to site, and TechRock™ deploys by unrolling and securing fabric with no heavy plant required.
