Shallow ground improvement involves the treatment and reinforcement of weak soils within the upper layers of the ground to create a stable and reliable foundation platform for infrastructure development. These systems improve soil confinement, stiffness, and load-bearing behaviour while controlling excessive deformation.

Unlike deep ground improvement techniques that treat soil at significant depths, shallow improvement methods focus on strengthening the upper soil strata where stresses are highest, resulting in faster construction and lower project costs.
